Councils and Committees

CareerSource Okaloosa Walton is comprised of three councils and three committees. The Councils and Committees meet on a regular basis to review appropriate Council and Committee activities, needs, outcomes, and performance.

Special Ad-Hoc Committees including an Audit Committee are appointed as needed for specific tasks. Standing Councils, Committees, and Ad-Hoc Committees bring recommendations to the CareerSource Okaloosa Walton for approval.

 

Executive Committee

The Executive Committee consists of the Chair, Past-Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, and one (1) Director member-at-large from each of Okaloosa and Walton Counties. The Executive Committee has the power to act on behalf of the Board of Directors on all matters between meetings of the Board when time is of the essence. The Executive Committee and the Finance Committee as appointed by the Board Chair have the responsibility for the oversight of the financial and grants management of the Board, including budgeting, auditing, and financial reporting.


Finance Committee

The Finance Committee is responsible for direction and oversight regarding overall budgeting and financial management of CareerSource Okaloosa Walton. The Finance Committee reviews and recommends to the full board the annual budget, provides long term financial planning, evaluates and approves facilities decisions, and monitors actual vs. budgeted expenditures. Financial policies are set by CareerSource Okaloosa Walton upon recommendations by the Finance Committee.

 

Communications and Outreach Committee

The Communications and Outreach Committee promotes the CareerSource Okaloosa Walton and the CareerSource Okaloosa Walton centers through clear, consistent advertising, publicity and community involvement. The committee seeks to achieve an increasingly higher level of recognition of the CareerSource Okaloosa Walton name and an increasingly higher rate of employer involvement in the design and use of the CareerSource Okaloosa Walton system.

 

Youth Development Council

The Youth Development Council is tasked with the development of strategies that expand the basic workforce skills for young people and adult workers entering the workforce for the first time. The membership of the Youth Development Council is made up of both Board and non-Board members and meets the legislative mandate for Youth Councils as required in the Workforce Investment Act.

 

CareerSource Okaloosa Walton Council

The CareerSource Okaloosa Walton Council has responsibility for the oversight of all adult programming provided through the system for the universal customers. The Council also focuses on strategies for targeted groups such as Veterans, Individuals with Disabilities, Dislocated Workers, Older Workers, TANF recipients, Military Spouses, older workers and underemployed workers. The goal is to provide education, job skills training, and work readiness skills needed to attain and retain employment that will lead to increased wages.  CareerSource Okaloosa Walton Council also has primary oversight of the Welfare Transition programs and resources.

 

Business Competitiveness Council

The Business Competitiveness Council serves as a link among industry; economic development organizations and training providers to identify skills needed to fill demand occupations as well as identifying critical and emerging jobs necessary for business retention, expansion and economic development for the region. The Business Competitiveness Council reviews and determines whether additions or deletions are needed for the Regional Targeted Occupations List.
