This program is designed to provide education and training opportunities in high demand occupations in order to increase employment, earnings and job retention for Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) program participants. Available services are based on a determination of needs and include tuition and book assistance (up to $4,000), uniforms, supplies, and vocational guidance. The Goal of Florida's WIOA is to build a skilled workforce.
Who Can Apply for WIOA Scholarship?
Individuals who are:
- 18 years of age or older
- U.S. citizens and/or authorized to work in the U.S.
- Males born after December 31, 1959, must be registered for Selective Service
- Okaloosa or Walton county residents
Individuals must also fall into one of the following categories:
Dislocated Worker:Individuals who have been recently laid off or received notification of upcoming termination/layoff and eligible for or exhausted unemployment compensation.
- Recipients of Reemployment Assistance
- Individuals who exhausted their Reemployment Assistance and have not worked since
- Transitioning Service Members
- Applicable Military Spouses
- Displaced Homemakers

AdultIndividuals who are unemployed and do not meet the Dislocated Worker category; or individuals who are employed and earning less than $16.71 an hour.
How do I apply for assistance through WIOA?
Individuals interested in applying for assistance through WIOA are advised to first attend a WIOA Orientation. WIOA Orientations are held every Tuesday at 9:00 am at our Fort Walton Beach CareerSource Center and every Friday at 9:00 am at our Satellite Center at Emerald Coast Technical College. No appointment for this orientation is required.
